Members of this community-based orchestra include students of Mount Royal University, the University of Calgary, and junior and senior high schools from Calgary and surrounding communities. The CYO provides solid training in orchestral playing with professional coaching from some of the best local, national and international clinicians and conductors. Workshops with guest conductors and visiting orchestras are a regular feature of the program. The CYO performs a series of concerts throughout the year and participates in an annual Alberta Youth Orchestra Symposium with the Edmonton Youth Orchestra in Banff. ![]() The Calgary Youth Orchestra is sponsored by the Calgary Youth Orchestra Society, a non-profit society incorporated in the Province of Alberta. Musical direction is provided by Calgary’s Mount Royal University Conservatory.
