Kathleen MacLachlan Scholarship
Kathleen MacLachlan (Kay) was born and raised on a homestead in west central Alberta where she rode her pony for half an hour just to get to her piano lessons. She has derived many hours of enjoyment from listening to her granddaughter's (Lauren Ridge's) progress with the violin and through the Mount Royal Conservatory orchestras. It is with pleasure that we honour her and make a small contribution to the tradition of excellence in musicianship in this province.
Letha J. MacLachlan, Q.C.
One scholarship of $500 will be awarded annually.
Any fully paid-up member of the CYO may apply for the Kathleen MacLachlan Scholarship.
TERMS OF AWARD:
The awarding of the scholarship will take into consideration some, but not necessarily all, of the following criteria:
Respect for the conductor and fellow musicians
Noticeable improvement in musicianship as an orchestra member
Family financial need
One letter of application requesting consideration for all scholarships offered by the CYO Society is sufficient. Please write a short explanation detailing how you plan to use the scholarship and include reasons why you think that you qualify for, or are deserving of, the scholarship. If financial need is cited, the committee may ask for supporting documents which will be kept in confidence. All applications will be discussed by a scholarship committee comprised of the President of the Society (Georgia McLaughlin), Scholarship Committeee Chair (Robin Young), Honorary Life Member and Director (John Thompson), Treasurer (Beverley Erickson), Orchestra Manager (Trudy Ross) and the Music Director (Edmond Agopian). The Committee will make its recommendation to the Board of the Society whose decision will be final.

NOTIFICATION OF SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS:
All scholarship winners will be notified at the final rehearsal of the orchestra in June.
